There are many things we can reflect on this week, but I think the most important was beginning to learn about Canada. It's important because it links to the grade 4 and 5 units in Social Studies. First, we looked at a giant map and labeled the provinces and territories. Also, we found the capital cities for them all. Next, we looked at symbols for each region. Finally, we used the virtual library to read more about Canada. We found some games to play by using the online resource, Link to Learning. There is so much to learn about Canada's regions and government.
Homework:
Begin your own KWL chart about Canada just like the one you started in class! If you are in grade 4, your topic will be Canada's regions. Complete the K and W parts.
If you are in grade 5, your topic will be Canada: Citizenship and Government.
As a bonus, do the L part. Try to answer at least ONE of your questions. Do some research by asking someone a question, using a map or reading.
Have a great weekend,
Ms. Perlmutter
