How many times in a day do you solve a math problem?
From setting your alarm clock in the morning to sharing a pizza with your family for dinner, you are always working with math.
We will focus on Number Sense to start the year. This includes:
-estimation
-place value
-reading and writing large numbers
-reviewing the basic operations
1. Look around your home for non-fiction texts. What do you find?
2. Continue to think about the following amounts and real-life situations for each:
-tens 10s (ex. counting kids in a class)
-hundreds 100s (ex. beads on a necklace)
-thousands 1,000s or 10,000s or 100,000s (ex. steps taken from home to school in a week)
-millions 1,000,000s (ex. people in a country)
