What do you like to write about?
We have been busy writing non-fiction in class. Our focus has been on developing a paragraph.
So, when Kieron came back to Frankland after competing in today's final cross-country event, we had a perfect opportunity to write a paragraph. Using personal experience or interest makes for a great topic!
After talking to us about the event and answering questions from his classmates, together we wrote an interesting paragraph. Always remember that talking before writing is a helpful warm-up.
What does every good paragraph need?
1. A topic sentence
2. 3 supporting details that will be the most interesting to the reader
3. Transition words or sentences (i.e. first, next, then)
4. Closing sentence (is like the topic sentence but with different words)
5. All sentences are linked together to make up a unit of sentences
6. Start with an indentation
7. Complete sentences (start with a capital, end in punctuation, is a complete thought)
Now it's your turn. For fun, pick a topic that you can write about in paragraph form. You will write for your classmates. Prepare to read your paragraph to the class on Monday!
